Ever wonder why you get some of the things you do or how the same types of people, circumstances or events keep showing up in your life?
Why do we blame everything and everyone BUT ourselves for why our life is the way it is? If you want to change your life, change the words that come out of your mouth.
Oh, I can hear some of you now, “I don’t believe for one minute that our words have any power over the events that take place in our lives.”
So what? Do you think because you DON’T believe it, that makes it TRUTH? Let me ask you this: If you didn’t believe in the law of gravity, would gravity cease to exist?
As a Life Coach, it’s necessary for my clients to share with me, things that are troubling them. After all, Life Coaching is about aiding the individual with support and creative, workable solutions. But part of my job is to recognize when they are sabotaging or doing something that is counter-productive to what they really, truly want.
I was having a session with a client one evening when he began spewing out all the “reasons” why he would most likely, NOT get the job promotion he so desperately wanted. In a matter of five minutes, he managed to tell me he was under qualified, too shy, not aggressive enough, always gets passed over for promotions, other candidates were more likeable and better looking, and now that he was thinking about it, these were the same reasons why he didn’t have a significant relationship in his life either.
After listening to his own words and getting himself upset, he angrily questioned, “When are things going to start going MY way for a change? I just don’t understand why I can’t catch a break!”
I asked, “If you want your dog to come into the house, would you go to the door and call for the cat?”
Though he stammered and stuttered a bit, he knew I was going somewhere important with my query. He responded, “No, I guess I wouldn’t. Why do you ask?”
“If you want a promotion, don’t speak of the reasons why you shouldn’t have it.
If you want love, don’t tell others why someone wouldn’t love you.
If you want to sell your house, don’t talk about the slow real estate market.
If you want to lose weight, don’t talk about how fat you are.
If you want wealth, don’t talk about poverty and recession.
If you want health, don’t talk about sickness.
To expect positive results from negative seeds is to defy spiritual law. An apple seed produces an apple tree. “Everything produces after its own kind!”
Therefore, IF YOU WANT THE DOG, DON’T CALL FOR THE CAT!!
