Buried Emotions Affect Our Health

In my last book, Journey to Love, I shared a prophetic dream I had about a flooded septic field. At the time of the dream I lived in a rural area where all the new homes had septic fields rather than city sewage. For those of you not familiar with a septic tank/field, it’s the sewage system where all the liquid from the house, (bath, showers, dishwashers, laundry and toilet waste) are dumped, usually several feet underground, in the backyard.
The waste enters the septic tank where the heavier debris settles to the bottom. As the tank becomes filled with liquid, the excess spills out into hundreds of feet of “leach lines”. Depending upon the number of people in your household and the lay of the land, some homeowners must empty their tanks once a year while others could go several years! If a septic tank is too full and begins to overflow, the waste backs up into the house! Although this never happened to me, I had friends who experienced this horrible ordeal. And trust me, it was a nightmare! The stench and bacteria that spilled into their house was enough to make me a bit paranoid so I had my tank emptied frequently!

A septic tank is the perfect analogy for the way in which we tend to bury our feelings. As long as they are hidden, buried and out of sight, we won’t have to deal with them, right? Wrong! Sooner or later they WILL find a release valve.

Don’t force your emotions down – release them!   Empty the Tank!

Maybe it’ll take an emotional flood to force these emotions out of the septic tank and into the light of day; your house! Are you prepared for a nasty back up and the stench it brings? When emotions that have been buried for years come flooding out, it’s rarely ever in a “controlled” fashion. Yep! It gets nasty!

And if you somehow avoid the septic back up, then the body often breaks down and begins to manifest this “dis-ease” in your body. Often in the same energy field related to the emotions you’re burying.

Beyond the clearing of emotional heaviness or negative energy, there can be partial resistance to letting go of identification with a physical illness you may already have. While few of us really consciously want to feel physically ill, guilty or angry, it is common to unconsciously hold onto it because it serves a purpose. Sometimes people have been physically ill for such a long time that the illness becomes part of their identity. In such cases, it is essential that any unconscious attachment to negative emotions and physical illness are reversed. Ridding the body and mind of these patterns, opens the path to healing and wellness. Inner unconscious resistance is gone. We get out of our own way, and let the healing begin.

Yes, the body talks to us all the time but the question is, “Are you listening?” Don’t wait for a septic back up before you begin healing emotional pain. Listen to Soul Audios by clicking the button below.

In addition to Journey To Love, I wrote a book entitled In Search of Peace, which is brings depth and dimension to the 23rd Psalm.
